Little Miss Hug

Yesterday saw the launch of a brilliant new Little Miss book, Little Miss Hug is a cheeky, pink character known for her hugs.

This new book is the 35th book in the popular Little Miss series, and what a fantastic book it is.  Little Miss Hug is an expert hugger who knows how to give the perfect hug to all of her Mr Men and Little Miss friends in times of need and for fun, because you don’t need a reason to share a hug with your friends.

We love hugs in this family so this book went down a treat, so much so we read it two times last night.  I don't want to spoil the story but it is a truly wonderful and heart warming story with some of the most famous Mr Men characters making an appearance.

My daughter loves it so much and has been looking at the pictures, telling me about them. The pictures are bright and colourful and typical of this classic series.

This book fits in perfect with the whole Mr Men and Little Miss series and carries on the wonderful world that Roger Hargreaves created.

In addition to the new book is a free AR (Augmented Reality) App that is available to download on both Android and IOS, it is absolutely wonderful and works with the book as well as pages in the Mr Men and Little Miss magazine.

Pointing the device at the book brings Little Miss Hug to life and from there you can play a game or even get her to give you a hug.

I love that the book is moving with the times and can be enjoyed in so many ways, we will always love reading the books most though :)

NB We were sent the book to review, all opinions and picture are my own.

A Hug a Day

This morning as my son's friends arrived in the playground they all gave each other a hug.

This was something I observed at nursery and it is so lovely to see that even though they are at school, they are still young enough to want to do this.

It is true to say my heart melted and for that moment the world seemed so innocent.

If only when I turned up to work someone would give me a hug, I think the world would be a nicer place.

More than just education?!?

If you follow my blog you may have seen that we have recently been looking at schools for our son.

My husband visited one yesterday that was in his words 'the one' only problem is it is oversubscribed and out of our catchment.

But this is by the by, the point of this post is what the head teacher of the school said to my husband.

He said that any of the schools we were putting down would be good, however our son already had a great start because we are obviously caring parents, who have taken the time to check the schools we are considering sending our child to.

He said that for some children the school day was probably the only time they got any attention and hugs and this made me feel awful.

The very thought that a child might not get a hug from a mummy or daddy, nana or grandpa or anyone for that matter is beyond comprehension.

I sometimes shout at my son for not taking care of his toys or hurting his sister but the utter guilt I feel afterwards makes me hurt inside, I find it so difficult and heart breaking to think that this would be any different!

But chances are there is a child that went to sleep tonight feeling unloved and lonely.

Until now I have never thought about a school offering more than education, to offer a child hope in an environment where they can thrive and know that someone does care for them can only be good for society.

I lay with my son tonight as he fell to sleep and I couldn't imagine how I could feel any different about him, he is my life and watching him and my daughter grow and thrive is all I live for.

I cant help but well up every time I think about what he said...I just think everyone deserves a hug, especially a child!
