Barbie Rainbow Lights Mermaid Doll Review

We've been super lucky to review some of the fabulous Barbie range and with each new doll they give my daughter something more magical to help feed her imagination through role play.

The Barbie Rainbow Lights Mermaid Doll encapsulates everything my daughter loves in life, a Barbie, some lights and a rainbow. Best of all, this one reacts to being in the water. With a pink streak in her hair and a tiara making her look every bit the mermaid princess.

You activate her by pressing the button and then you dip her body into the water, her tail twinkles in a magical sequence of coloured lights, being able to put her in water makes her the perfect bath time companion, my daughter stayed in there until the bath water was almost cold because she was having so much fun.

Her lights work out of the water too, meaning she can be friends with all of the other Barbies we have, flashing her lights in a disco style.

This Barbie is part of the new Barbie Dreamtopia, an all-new magical, make-believe world imagined by Chelsea, the youngest sister of Barbie. Join Barbie, Chelsea, and her puppy Honey as they swim through rainbow rivers with beautiful mermaids and fly through cotton candy clouds with fairies. All you have to do is dream!

I love this Barbie and the fact that she isn't just limited to water play, however one thing that frustrates me sometimes is the inability to dress these Barbies with actual clothes, she is a mermaid and thats it. My daughter loves her however and I can see why, she is bright, colourful and brings plenty of light into your day.

Barbie Rainbow Lights Mermaid has an RRP of £20.99.

NB: We were sent this Barbie to review, all words and opinions are my own.

Marquee Love Letters from One Stop Craft Shop

I was recently approached by the One Stop Craft Shop, to see if I would be interested in reviewing some of their new range of Marquee Love letters.

As we have just moved house, our new home is a blank canvas in most rooms. In the kitchen however, we are almost there, we have chosen colours and some new furniture and it is really starting to come together.

Firstly, I had to choose a word to have displayed in lights, EAT seemed very appropriate for the kitchen! So, with my word chosen I was sent some letters and coloured papers to get me started, craft is something I love doing but sometimes it's very difficult to find the time, so this was the perfect excuse and opportunity for me to get crafty.

The letters themselves are made from cardboard, they come with the lights and bulbs which slot onto the front, as well as a template to make it easy to cut the paper.

First of all you need to draw around the template and carefully cut it out, I found you need to cut exactly on the line otherwise it doesn't quite fit in into the letter.

Once you have cut out the shape you need to fit it into the letter and then using a pencil I poked the holes into the front to place the lights and bulbs onto the front.

With the paper being slightly thick, it meant the bulbs didn't slot into holes as easily as they could, I certainly had sore fingers at the end of it all. Be careful not too push too hard onto the cardboard and if need be, put a little pressure on the other side to stop it from putting any strain on the cardboard.

Once I had completed the first letter, the following ones were a breeze.

I absolutely love the finished look though, its fabulous and so effective,  they look perfect on top of my kitchen unit in both the day and at night.

I can't wait for evenings in the garden, to be able to put these on and see them through the window, they are really bright so perfect for an alternative to lamps. They are battery operated by two AAA batteries, so don't need to be need a plug either.

These fabulous letters mean that you can swap and change the colour scheme as much as you like, to suit your rooms, whether it be for children's rooms, kitchen or lounge or even parties and weddings. You can even get additional bulbs in blue and pink, the options are endless and if you hop on over to One Stop Craft Shop there is plenty more inspiration from their huge range of stock.

Plus if you feel like a change you can always swap the letters round....

So, what word would you create? Family, Love, Home???

The paper used in this project were, Mini Dots Gold Foiled Paper and Confetti Gold Foiled Paper.

NB: I was sent the letters and papers to create this post, all words and opinions are my own.

Night Light in Nottingham 2015

Each year, for one night, Nottingham is transformed into a colourful and beautiful light filled city. We have been to light night for the last three years and it never fails to impress.

The view from the castle...

The trees in the castle grounds, they looked so pretty all lit up in different colours...

The band stand, lit up and playing music, we had a little boogie...

Gorgeous trees all lit up...

The castle looked so pretty at night, we haven't been up to the castle in a long time, in fact I am not sure we have ever taken the children, so it was a nice trip.

We all had a fabulous time, got to watch some of my sons friends read stories and then visited the wonderful Brewhouse Yard which I will save for another day.

Aurora at Rufford Park

For the last three years we have taken the children to the wonderful Aurora at Rufford Park in Nottingham.

Aurora is a winter illuminations around the gardens at Rufford Park, light, sound and colour transform the sculptures and trees in the garden and it is a really wonderful time to spend with the children and this year included the grandparents too.

Weather permitting it is a truly one of a kind experience that we love and have always enjoyed, I can assure you the children are there it's just very dark ;)

The pretty Abbey all lit up and Santa's Grotto

This sculpture is holding an apple.

These cones always impress.

I think you'll agree it is a beautiful sight and the kids enjoyed it all, including the Christmas rides at the end, you can get hot chocolate too from the cafe and it's lovely to be able to warm up afterwards.

It isn't on till late so it is the perfect family activity to get you out, wrapped up and enjoying what you normally wouldn't get to see of the park at night time..

The beautiful Christmas tree at the entrance.
