What's Your Driving Style?

We all know someone who’s driving we consider to be a little ropey, have seen better days, my husband and I have done many miles in various cars and driving to France and back we’ve had our fair share of falling outs over his driving.

I think it’s because he takes more risks, he’s been caught speeding a few times and his driving makes be jump because I think he’s going to either crash or be crashed in to.

His new car has many sensors and a few, thankfully, that back me up, one of these is a collision warning, which detects objects in front of you and beeps and a red light flashes on the windscreen in front of you, when this goes off, I know it’s not just me being jumpy!

For example my husband, in my eyes doesn’t start to break when I would, thusly making it feel like we are going to crash. So how great would it be to have something in the car that helps ensure you drive safely?  Something that would mean if he drives safe he saves money.

Would he drive better? I have no idea! Would I dare have it in my car to save money, it would certainly be interesting and if it could save me money on my car insurance then all the better.

Be Safe, Be Seen - Keep Children Safe on Our Roads

I have written before about how important road safety is to me, in fact as the evenings get darker it is imperative that we not only teach our children how to be careful on the roads, but to help make them safer too.

As the roads across the country have got busier and there are drivers distracted talking on phones or using gadgets. There seem to be less focus on road safety than there was when we had David Prowse teaching us the green cross code as Green Cross Code man.

But not all is lost, over the past 5 years Co-operative Funeralcare have given out over 160,000 yellow high visibility reflective pin-badges badges to 1,500 schools and youth groups. They also deliver school assemblies or lessons about road safety prepared by road safety charity Brake for children between the ages of 3 and 7 years.

This brilliant campaign drives home the importance of being safe on the roads, making sure children understand that road safety is a vital part of their daily lives, both now and in the future. I always try to set a good example when out and about, making sure to never cross on the red man.

I Miss My Coffee Table

I miss my coffee table! Why? Well, it started about 5 years when my son was starting to pull himself up on the furniture and crawl around.

All the breakables in the house were moved out of reach, the TV was attached to the wall, nick-nacks moved to the mantel piece and the coffee table was relegated to the corner of the room, no longer a place to keep hot drinks and remote controls, with the addition of a small chair, it became a desk/lunch table for our son.

But now with my both my son and daughter being old enough it would be good to reclaim some space, somewhere to put our drinks of an evening, somewhere to be home to the remote controls and some of the wonderful vintage books I have.

There are so many styles and types of coffee table to choose from, I particularly like this scandi-style coffee table, the shelf offers a great place to store magazines and the lines are beautiful and contemporary.

I also really like this glass top table, I am always aware of drinks being put down on tables and marking them, this would get away from this as well as not worrying when the children lean on it to draw. Again plenty of storage underneath, although we would need to keep it clear with it being glass.

And it is with that I also wonder are we the only ones who haven't got a coffee table anymore? Is this something a lot of parents give up when children arrive?
