French Inspired Bedroom

We inherited our current bed base after my husband had a back operation 8 years ago, we've since bought a new mattress from John Lewis to help with my bad neck and added to it a mismatched head board we found in the Pier furniture store when it closed down. The base is discoloured, torn and really not attractive, it is just something we haven't got round to replacing yet, as the children outgrowing their beds and needing new ones was higher on the list of priorities.

Since we moved house, our bed just doesn't look right, the smooth walls and fresh carpets just aren't being done justice by it. After spending a week in France, I felt inspired to seek out some beautiful French bedroom furniture and linen.

I adore this French inspired bed from Loaf and the linen sheets are to die for, I imagine crumpled linen Sunday mornings snuggled up in them. We don't have anything on the walls in our bedroom, and I love these picture frames, perfect for holding memories of special days. Throws and baskets add texture and I love the Thelma & Louise dressing table and stool, perfect for sitting at to do my makeup and hair.

A Good Nights Sleep with Dormeo - Review

After a rather long wait, my sons bed was finally delivered which meant we could get on with testing out this wonderful new mattress from Dormeo.

Arriving in a much smaller box than I had imagined, I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened it, but on opening the box and taking the mattress out it was obvious once we undid the plastic wrapping that it was going to more than double in size. 

The mattress itself feels great quality, designed and manufactured in Italy, the Florentine stitched cover is hypoallergenic and made from 100% cotton. 

The mattress has carbon fibre woven into the cover, this helps create a barrier to dust and parcels in the air, ensuring a hygienic sleeping surface. Which for anyone with allergies and for children is a big plus, it also means I don't have to worry too much about making sure the beds are cleaned.

It also comes with a 60 night comfort guarantee and 15 year warranty, which I think you'll agree is a good deal, especially with something like this that isn't easy to decide wether after a five minute rest it is going to be good for you.

My husband and I have both suffered with a bad back or neck for many years, so it is a constant concern for me that the mattresses my children are sleeping on are as supportive, having had a good lie on this one I felt relaxed and supported and my son has had brilliant nights sleep on the mattress.

My son was so excited about his new mattress he wouldn't even let me put the sheets on, it not only looks great but it really does feel great too.

Overall I think this mattress is great, if I was choosing for a bigger bed then it might possibly be a little on the thin size at just 15cm deep, but as it stands it was perfect for my sons new cabin bed. They do have many more mattresses on offer all with the same quality and standard so there should be something for everyone.

Make Your Own Baby Birth Stats Wall Art

This week whilst I am on holiday I am passing over the blog to a few lovely bloggers, first up is Emma from Handbags To Change Bags, her blog is beautiful and a great insight into her life and her beautiful family. Anyway enough babble from me, over to Emma.

Hi I'm Emma from Handbags To Change Bags and I'm guest posting for the lovely Ellie today while she is away on holiday. Today's post is a DIY, hope you enjoy it!

I'm always on the lookout for cute ideas for my kids bedrooms and the home in general, I recently saw a lovely personalised piece of wall art with your baby's birth stats on it and thought it would be perfect for Summer's bedroom.

However when I noticed the price was £28 without a frame and when you add in the frame it was £68 I just couldn't justify paying that amount.

So I decided I'd take on a little DIY project and have a go at making one myself and I'm really pleased with how it came out!

All I did was use PicMonkey to add different texts in different colours and fonts to a white background and printed it out. I chose to design mine a little different to the one I'd seen but you can design it anyway you want.

I got the frame from Ikea and the whole thing cost me the grand total of £4!

I think it looks lovely in Summer's bedroom and goes perfectly with her room decor, I'm going to make another one for Riley's bedroom and I'm also making one for my nephew as part of his birthday present.

My house is nearly a home!

So after nearly five years of living in our house we can nearly call it a home, last weekend I decorated my sons new bedroom.

He loves it, as do I. Me and my husband have finally claimed the lounge back instead of it being full of his toys.

Today I am hoping to sort out my daughters room, poor thing is nearly nine months and still doesn't have a bedroom. I remember having my sons nursery all set up and looking pretty before he was born, adjusting and readjusting everything until the day he arrived.

I have this gorgeous set I won from Peanut and Pip on Red Ted Art's blog months ago waiting to go up on the wall and am itching to put it in pride of place, it also means I can get on and order some fabric for her curtains with some extra to send to Knot Just Jigs to make into something scrummy.

My poor old neck is begging me not to paint but I am really eager to get it all sorted and finally have a homely home.
