Hoping to Build Confidence with Stagecoach Theatre Arts School

Last week my son started his first term at the Stagecoach Theatre Arts School in Southwell, I have high hopes for him to build his confidence by attending this. He loves singing, dancing and generally being silly. He was recently part of the Christmas in Concert at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham and is in the choir at school so I know he has something a little special going on, he just needs help with his confidence.

So with his t-shirt on and a belly full of butterflies, we headed to his first session. We arrived a little early, so we sat and chatted for a bit. Soon, another newbie arrived and since they looked to be the only two boys in the group, they were put together.

We'd read up on the website about what to expect however I was expecting a bit more info on the day as to what the layout would be, especially as it was our first time. Another of the new mums also mentioned they'd expected a little more, but I think thats just because we were a little apprehensive.

My son had a wonderful time and I needn't of worried, he explained all of what had happened with the different teachers and explained what they'd done. It sounded likes lots of fun though and when my husband went to pick him up the teacher asked if he'd done this sort of thing before because he was a natural #proudparent.

This was so exciting to hear and hopefully means good things for him, I can't wait to see how he progresses and what the next few months brings. I'll be documenting his journey so keep your eyes peeled for more in the coming months.

Barbie Dance & Spin Ballerina Review

We were recently sent the Dance & Spin Ballerina Barbie to review, this colourful and eye-catching doll jumps, spins and pliés with ease.The wand clips easily on to her waist and and as you push her leg down she leaps into the air and spins, her leg spinning round like a real ballerina, her dress spinning out out in all it's glittery glory.

I am not sure who loves this more, myself or my daughter well obviously its my daughter...just! For any little person that loves ballerinas, this Barbie is perfect, her pirouettes and pliés are very close to the real deal and even simple for little hands to operate.


With a pretty two tone dress and bodice this doll has everything you could want in a Barbie friend, putting on their own swirly, twirly dress they can dance and spin around together like ballerinas.

My only slight issue with this doll and possibly the frustration of my daughter is that both legs don't straighten and so for when she wants to play with her as a normal doll, she can't. I completely understand why it doesn't but I do feel that if this could be different it would make it more useable with her other Barbies.

This doll would make such a wonderful present for any ballerina loving Barbie fan this Christmas, with an RRP of £19.99 this fabulous doll is a toy that will get played with time and time again.

Dancing Fit

Before children we used to go clubbing a lot, I think a mixture of eating healthier, super quick metabolism and dancing in clubs kept me fit.

Although I don't go clubbing anymore I do still enjoy dancing and can be often found in the kitchen bopping whilst cleaning.

Music to me is a way of setting yourself free and if I can get the children to join me then I do, who said fitness had to be all gym.

Plus music can be a great way to de-stress and for me always brings back memories and feelings from moments in my life. For example Chemical Brothers reminds me of being at Glastonbury and a fab weekend at a Radio One Big Weekend, I remember seeing myself on the big screens dancing! It was amazing.




My daughter loves to dance and can often be found twirling round the lounge with me,  I hope to get her in to dance classes later this year and I hope she can find a love for it.

Exercise doesn't always have to be about the gym, sometimes you can burn calories doing what comes natural, there is a beautiful quote in the film Hanna which has a soundtrack by Chemical Brothers funnily enough, it says "Music; a combination of sounds with a view to beauty of form and expression of emotion" I think this is the perfect way to describe it and why I love to dance so much.
