Tune on Tuesday

I was listening to this song today and the lyrics are very apt for how I am feeling at the moment!

Complete lyrics: http://www.directlyrics.com/katy-perry-firework-lyrics.html 'Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?'

I love listening to the lyrics in music, sometimes so inspiring, helpful and sometimes just what you need on the bad days!

Today I need music!

Today the tears keep secretly falling, it’s a bad day I guess! Thankfully these days are few and far between, since my daughter was born a hole was filled and both her and my son make me smile both inside and out every day.

But today we found out my son didn’t get in at our preferred schools, adding to that my daughter being poorly, my husband going away for a week and  being up since 4.45 things could be better.

I feel weepy, in fact I just want to stand up shout f’ it, walk out of the office and listen to obscenely loud music in the car. But I won’t as that isn’t going to solve anything.

When I suffered with PND after my son these days became weeks, it was hideous and I know for my children’s sake I have to get up, shake myself off and deal with this stuff. After all I am the only parent for a week, I have wine and chocolate and crap on the telly, I can get through this. I have my beautiful babies to take out and spend time with I can be strong.

I also have music, my one thing for the bad days is music and I have said this so many times before. If I need empowering, cheering up, anger releasing there is always a song I can find to do it too.

For example I love ‘Run the World (Girls)’ by Beyonce it’s a great song if you need to feel empowered, Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit is my go to angry song and any Trance music is my, make me happy and dance like no one is watching music.

I love music, if I could have it playing in my head all day I would! One day eh ;)

PS. There will be no Favourite Recipe this Friday just me babbling on, however there is still an opportunity to win a recipe books on last weeks if you’d like to enter….. http://www.themummydiary.co.uk/2012/04/favourite-recipe-friday-and-recipe-book.html

Tunes on Tuesday!

I love dance music, if I could have it playing in my head all the time I would.

There are a few DJs out there that I would listen to all day if I could and Ferry Corsten is one of them, so this morning we have two songs by him that I have enjoyed many a time and all fit in with today's  'romantic' theme!

The first is called Made with Love...

And he second is called Beautiful, it is a song I listened too a lot after my son was born so makes me smile everytime I hear it :)

My tune on Tuesday!

As I was sat in the car on the way back from a hot chocolate and cake at a local garden centre this song was playing on the radio, meanwhile my son was holding hands with my daughter in the back of the car and both of them were laughing.

Their innocence is so truly beautiful and I love them with all my heart. It amazes me how one simple moment can simply sweep aside all of the rubbishness of a day.

As I mentioned in the post My Love of Music, I love listening to music and songs can be so powerful at creating feelings.

This shall now be my children's song whether they like it or not ;-)

My love of music!

I love music,  I always have.

I have learnt to DJ and make music at a music school in my spare time, I used to love going clubbing and letting the music move my body.

I listen to music when I am cleaning and dance like nobody is watching, my children usually looking on bemused but excited by mummy twirling and wiggling.

For me music takes my mind away from it all, it brings back memories and for a moment I can be lost in the words or music of someone else's life.

I remember moments in life, for example As The Rush Comes by Motorcycle reminds me of Gatecrasher at the NEC and a friend who said 'I looked amazing' sadly he went on to take his own life and everytime I hear that song I think of him.

Romeo by Basement Jaxx was the song that was playing when I first told my husband I loved him.

My Friend by Groove Armada was the song played as we walked down the aisle after we got married.

For me music is like smells and conjures up memories, I have an album that I listened to every day when I was 15, I still play it and even now 13 years later it still brings back memories of my first boyfriend and leaving school.

When I hear songs they remind me of a moment, a person, a place or just that life is full of beautiful things.

So that is My Song Saturday or Soppy Saturday maybe, either way have great weekends. Tomorrow is Silent Sunday so i'll talk to you on Monday.
