The Fabulous Bakers Review

We were recently offered some of the new natural range from The Fabulous Bakers, I was looking forward to receiving these, as I knew they would make a fun addition to lunch boxes and a great mid morning snack.

From the fabulous mango and pineapple bars, to the more traditional golden oat flapjacks there is something in the range to suit all tastes.

My son definitely preferred the chip off the old choc flapjacks but I think that may be to do with the fact it has chocolate in, a close second were the raspberry and white chocolatey popcorn bars, although my husband did mention the popcorn tasted a little strange as it was soft.

After checking they were nut free, which they all were, expect the bars of berry good things. I popped one in my sons packed lunch. I love oats as they are a great slow release energy which means they are perfect for the afternoon.

The fruity ones, although they still got eaten were probably not as much liked, possibly they'd suit older children or adults. The bars are packed with honey rather than sugars and sweeteners which are a big no-no in this house, so these bars are something I don't mind the children having as a snack.

For my tastes, they are a little too sweet, although I did like the berry bar so maybe it is a good job the children didn't enjoy them as much.

The packs of four bars are priced at £1.50 and are currently available from Asda, they are a little more than I would normally pay for something like this, however for snacks I can just keep in the  cupboard and that the children will eat and are not full of rubbish, it's a price i'd be willing to pay. The children have been asking to find them when we've in the shop so I don't think this will be the last time we have them.

"My idea for Rocket & Rose started back in November 2011.  My twin girls were very tiny and whilst they napped I started designing tutus and outfits for them and for family and friends.  I decided to venture into boys fashion and my ideas and drawing and practise outfits and clothing items soon escalated into the wonderful world of Rocket & Rose and here we are now! 

I design and create all the items you can see on the Rocket & Rose website whilst still raising my gorgeous Twinklies.  I am a part time working Mum and Wife, hence why there is a short waiting list for my items - but I have been assured they are worth the wait! 

I studied fashion and textiles at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, followed by a degree in Theatre Costume Design for the Performing Arts at the London College of Fashion, so I am delighted to be able to use my skills more than 15 years later in a career that I absolutely adore. 

Along with my husband, Dan we run the business from a lovely workshop in the heart of the Devon countryside." 

I hope you’ll agree she is a pretty amazing lady, not only does she run this business she also has three young children too.

Mothers Day Treats

So this is more a post about the things I would like for mothers day, a little inspiration for my children/hubby.

And with so many wonderful things around this is possibly going to be a long post…

This was on my Christmas list but sadly Santa must have missed it, I love the colour and would love this for popping on with skinny jeans and for cooler summer evenings (plus the colour almost matches my Sun Jellies) gorgeous Hello jumper from Southwood Stores, £40.00.

This seems to be my mantra at the moment, so I would love this print from Bodie and Fou, £35.00.

I have a real penchant for flamingos and adore this tea towel from Cuckooland, £12 but well worth it to have hanging in the kitchen.

And finally, even though I already have a pair of these gorgeous Sun Jellies shoes I definitely need more and I love these silver glitter ones, perfect to go with everything but I also like the fluro pink, yellow and the red, only £16.00.

I really love this dress from Tigerlilly Quinn's shop, I love foxes and this is just gorgeous and really reasonably priced too at just £28.00.

And finally because I cannot get enough of this smell I would really love a little pot of this loveliness from The Body Shop, it smells so gorgeous and I love lip balm, a snip at £4.00 ;)

Sidneyboo! Coming Soon

Over on Instagram I have been chatting to a lovely lady called Sarah and she is soon to be opening a new online store selling gorgeous children's clothes for ages 0-5.

Supporting small businesses is what I like to do and so I wanted to help spread the word about her new store and the items she will be stocking.

So here is a bit about Sidneyboo! from Sarah:

"I was inspired to start my business after having my son in 2011. I found it frustrating that very few high street shops sell exciting and unique clothing for kids. I really believe kids clothes should have a sense of fun and reflect their playfulness, so when the opportunity arose I decided to search out brands that love to be creative with their clothing! I've worked hard to put together a collection of individual, fresh and exciting pieces - and all of them have a funky and fun twist to make you smile - the essence of Sidneyboo!  

My son, who is 3 next week (day before launch!!) is called Sidney and Sidneyboo! is a nickname I have called him it since he was a baby and having spent time thinking of different names, and wanting something that was personal to me but also doesn't limit me to just clothing so thought why not Sidneyboo! Plus he is the reason I am doing this so he should be involved in some way."

I love the choice of name and reason behind it and with some gorgeous clothing from companies such as Boys&Girls, Corby Tindersticks, Funky Legs, Gardner and the Gang, Indikidual, NUNUNU and Slugs & Snails to name but a few I can't wait to see the website and the items in all their glory.
