Return of the Original Jelly Bag - My 80s Dream

Once upon a time in the 80s, there was a young girl who wanted a jelly bag so much, but money was tight so she never got to own one. Ok, so enough of the sob story and me showing my age, yes that girl was me and no it doesn’t bother me, that’s just how it was.

However, thanks to Sun Jellies my jelly bag dream was realised last weekend. I was like a small child when I opened up my parcel. The bag  was unclipped for easier shipping , which meant I had the privilege of putting it together. Much to my dismay my pink loving three year old daughter quickly swooped it up and walked off with it, proves jelly bags haven’t lost their appeal then.

Having managed to persuade her that it was too big for her I managed to gain control of the bag, for now, but she does look cute in her 'princess' jellies as she calls them ;)

Now on to the bag itself, in the same jelly material as the shoes it is sturdy and well-made and best of all I love the colour. I opted for pink as I thought it was the perfect summer colour, however it was a difficult decision between this, the coral red and timeless black.

We are going to France in the summer (home of the Meduse Sun Jellies) so I can’t wait to take this around the markets for fresh fruit, veg and cheese as well as to the beach. I think this is where the bag will really come in to its own, not only is it the perfect bag to take my books, sunglasses and sun creams in but it won’t get full of sand, well if it does it can be emptied out. It also looks rather cute with a pair of jelly shoes don’t you think?

I love this bag, I love the colour the design and it is also plenty big enough to fit lots of holiday essentials in, it can also be unclipped again so perfect for fitting into your suitcase.

It even comes in a smaller size in the pink for little girls to be like mum, you know because jellies are cool! Thank you Sun Jellies for bringing back these bags, just like when I listen to Madonna's Dear Jessie, I have been transported back to my childhood. Carefree and feeling like I could take on the world.

The bag costs £10 and is 34x25x25 so it is a decent size and I certainly managed to fit plenty of shopping in.

NB I was sent this bag to review, all words and thoughts and opinions are my own.

Finding My Inner Grunge

Since having my hair cut my style has been a little mixed, I have lost a little of what I was, who I am.

It has also given me an opportunity to try and restyle myself, so I have been looking for some gorgeous pieces to put together .

They are quite grungy in places, but I love the first look with this gorgeous mustard coloured dress and purple boots, I think it looks great and teamed with a cream jacket makes it oober casual.

The dress on it's own would be beautiful with a pair of plain heels and the jacket and boots are both key pieces to a wardrobe.

Dress by Orla Kiely for People Tree
Blazer by Reiss
Boots by Dr Martens

Next, well as everyone loves a black outfit, I thought these all go super well together, I know I am including Sun Jellies again but they are perfect for a busy mum on the run, great for rain or shine and go with everything.

This is a great smart causal look for town and could easily be made glam for a night out with heels.

Trousers from Reiss
Jacket from People Tree
Vest by Hello Apparel from Southwood Stores
Shoes by Sun Jellies

Although the Reiss trousers do seem pricey they are a key piece, I bought a pair of work trousers from them a few years ago, they still look as good as the day I bought them.

I am sure these outfits aren't to everyone's tastes especially the first one but having tried the boots on they aren't the same as normal DM's the leather is super soft and they are a great purple colour.

A Colourful Match Made in Heaven

Yesterday I posted a picture of myself in my new Hello Apparel jumper from Southwood Stores and my Sun Jellies and the response was amazing, so I wanted to show you just how lovely they are and perfect they are for each other.

The blue jumper and cyan jellies totally work together and are a perfect spring combination.

As are the green and red, these beautifully bright colours totally complement each other and I think they'd look great paired with jeans or a skirt for the cooler summer days and evenings.

And for those who aren't so into their bright colours how about the black colour way?

And finally if black is your thing but you like a pop of colour then how about the black jumper with any of the sun jellies range?

I love the way these look together and as the days get warmer but not quite warm enough for skirts and a t-shirt this is the perfect alternative.

Mothers Day Treats

So this is more a post about the things I would like for mothers day, a little inspiration for my children/hubby.

And with so many wonderful things around this is possibly going to be a long post…

This was on my Christmas list but sadly Santa must have missed it, I love the colour and would love this for popping on with skinny jeans and for cooler summer evenings (plus the colour almost matches my Sun Jellies) gorgeous Hello jumper from Southwood Stores, £40.00.

This seems to be my mantra at the moment, so I would love this print from Bodie and Fou, £35.00.

I have a real penchant for flamingos and adore this tea towel from Cuckooland, £12 but well worth it to have hanging in the kitchen.

And finally, even though I already have a pair of these gorgeous Sun Jellies shoes I definitely need more and I love these silver glitter ones, perfect to go with everything but I also like the fluro pink, yellow and the red, only £16.00.

I really love this dress from Tigerlilly Quinn's shop, I love foxes and this is just gorgeous and really reasonably priced too at just £28.00.

And finally because I cannot get enough of this smell I would really love a little pot of this loveliness from The Body Shop, it smells so gorgeous and I love lip balm, a snip at £4.00 ;)

So here is my little list of goodies, what have you found that you would love to receive?

Sun Jellies Review

A few weeks ago I was approached by the lovely people at Sun Jellies to see if I would like to review a pair of gorgeous Méduse jelly shoes.

Sun Jellies are a proud stockist of Méduse original French jellies. Based on the south coast of England they are the leading retailer of Méduse jellies.

Méduse is a French brand of jellies and wellies with a heritage dating back to 40's with the creation of the original fisherman Sun Jellies. Java jellies were created in the 70's. Both styles have been rockin' the same original designs for decades! They are the authentic retro classics. Much imitated but never bettered. All Méduse jellies are designed and made in France from 100% recyclable, soft PVC.

So what makes them great, first of all the colours, their website is like a rainbow of gorgeousness and with sizes up to 8 in most colours and up to 12 in the unisex colours there is something for everyone. If you have children they also do them from size 4 upwards so you can get all matchy matchy ;)

I went for the cyan in a size 8, normally finding shoes that fit my feet is a nightmare they are either too narrow or not long enough, these on the other hand were a perfect fit and comfy too which for a shoe made of PVC I think is pretty good going.

They also made my feet look all girly, another great bonus as far as I am concerned.

They are perfect for summer, autumn and spring. Here I have teamed them up with jeans and a long sleeved tee but with skirts, skinny jeans, 3/4 length trousers or tights they would work equally as well. You only have to look at their Facebook page for inspiration, so many ways of wearing them.

The Méduse range conjure up images of the 80s, especially the lattice jellies, they are gorgeous and I remember having a pair myself.

Best of all they are only £14.00 plus £2.00 shipping (for orders under £35), which I think is very reasonably priced so there is nothing stopping you having a pair in each colour.

I love finding a comfy pair of shoes that I look forward to wearing and I am so desperate for spring to arrive so I can wear these lots (it's just a little bit cold to go bare foot at the moment).

I'm also looking forward to getting me and my daughter a matching pair, she spent last year in 'jelly beans' as she calls them and so this year we can get matching pairs, i'll she'll love that.

So overall I love these shoes, I am waiting for pay day to buy my next pair….although I am not sure which colour to go for.

I think this could be the year of the jelly shoe, they are versatile, comfy, bright and easy to wear so which colour would you choose?

NB I was sent a pair free of charge to review, however all thoughts and words are my own.
