Helping Me Sleep - SoeMac Review

For the last few months I have been trialling a device called the SoeMac, it is designed to help people with their sleep. The device is a non invasive alternative oxygen therapy treatment, that allows your body to have a more restorative sleep, therefore helping with a wide range of sleep and health problems, from snoring, to ME & CFS, Asthma to Sleep Apnea.

The SoeMac is the world’s first and only home use Singlet Oxygen Energy therapy device. Until now, this Oxygen Energy therapy has only been available to users by means of very expensive, large machines, which rely on the use of a nasal cannula, or mask, to deliver the Oxygen Energy to the user.

The device itself is small and fits neatly and unobtrusively on my bedside table, it comes with extra filters and a power supply.

Having suffered with Fibromyalgia for the last two years, this device seemed like the perfect product for me.  My fibromyalgia often causes me to not sleep well, usually such a light sleep that I never feel fully rested.

Not having a good night sleep affects how you function on a daily basis and also exacerbates the pain that comes with this complicated condition.

Since using this device I have most definitely had better, deeper sleep, in the mornings, my body feels refreshed and like I have actually been asleep. As the device may work differently for everyone, SoeMac have a solid returns policy, if you are not happy with the product, then within 30 days, they will accept it back for a refund. After speaking to the inventor, he told me they have had a handful back in all the time they've been selling them.

Since we have had the SoeMac, my husband has stopped snoring as much, although not completely, I would say that 90% of nights have been snore free. Which, to say I could have put the pillow over his head many a night, then this is better.

I have been using this since the end of January and it takes about 30 days for the effects of the oxygen therapy to be noticed, however since this time I have felt more refreshed in the morning and I put this down to a better quality of deeper sleep.

We went on a holiday about a month ago and I didn't take it with me, I had disturbed sleep whilst we were away, but being in an unfamiliar place and in a tent with lots of noises, that could be expected. Although I didn't fully notice the effects of not having the SoeMac on until we got back, it then took another few weeks for me to get back into the sleep routine I had found.

One thing I must mention is the light and sound from the machine, whilst I wear ear mufflers that block out low background noise there is a whirring sound from the machine, similar to that of a PC, if you are light sleeper then this may be something to consider. The red light which is part of the science behind the machine is quite bright, I know some people find this sort of thing bothersome and I was a little worried I would, however the red light is fine and I have actually found it quite therapeutic. My husband hasn't noticed either the light or sound from the machine so this is only what I have observed.

So, do I think this works? Yes, I do and whilst for me, it hasn't eliminated the pain, it has assisted with the downright struggle that was being tired. A tiredness that comes on so quickly it is like a light has been turned off inside of me.

The product itself costs £419 which is a considerable outlay, however with how much prescriptions and medicines cost to help fight some of the conditions this can help aid, then I think it needs to be seen as investment.

NB: I was sent the SoeMac device in return for my honest opinion on the product.

Beat Travellers Tummy This Summer

I'm a little OCD when it comes to keeping hands clean, mainly because I worry about germs and tummy bugs.

With a holiday fast approaching you start to think about first aid kits and what to take in one. Stomach bugs from different food and water are a big worry for many people when travelling abroad, after all no one wants to spend their holiday with a sickness bug in tow.

So enter Enterosgel, anon-allergenic, intestinal adsorbent, developed for the simple and effective removal of viruses, toxins, allergens and pathogens from the intestinal tract. Created from organic methylsilisic acid and water, Enterosgel has a porous structure which selectively adsorbs medium weight molecules as it passes through the gut and removes them within 12 hours.

These include substances such as histamines (allergens), pathogens (harmful bacteria and viruses) and other toxins. Conversely, Enterosgel is hydrophobic (repels water) and so does not remove water (hydration) which is of crucial importance during episodes of diarrhoea.  Likewise the structure of Entersogel does not tolerate the removal of vital vitamins and minerals.

Enterosgel is not absorbed into the body at any point and is completely excreted. It is non-allergenic and is classed and approved as a medical device and safe for for babies 0+, children, adults, breastfeeding mothers, elderly people and the chronically ill.

It sounds perfect and although we fortunately haven't had to try this yet, I will be packing this as part of our first aid kit for our holiday.

The box states it also relieves symptoms of indigestion, IBS and it accelerates the elimination of alcohol from the body, we have a couple of weddings this year so I might pack this in our suitcase too.

Enterosgel is available at all Lloyds Pharmacies, price £12.80

NB: I was given a bottle of Enterosgel for the purpose of this post.

I won't be in work today...oh hang on!

So today I feel pretty rubbish, I have had a cold for weeks now but that together with the lack of sleep and rest has caught up with me and I feel shite!

Anyone know who I phone about this? Oh yeah, that's right there is no chance of getting the day off from being a mum when you are sick! It's not possible to just curl up on the sofa and watch Jezza!

To top it off I am still breast feeding so the chance of any hardcore drugs to try and stop the aching, streaming nose, headache and general feeling of crap is none existant!

So here I am writing on my blog, I don't expect any sympathy but at least I got to tell someone about it! For some reason a three year old and 10 month old don't really care about how I'm feeling!

Depression, a family affair!

So I woudn't normally write two blog posts in a day, afterall i'm a busy lady right, but I really needed to get this out of my head and into words, I am sorry if it goes on and if you manage to read all of it thank you.

I have suffered with depression for many years, probably since I was about 11, the exact moment was when I went to secondary school. I was put into a form with none of my friends, I was lonely and a target for the class bullies.

I started not eating and when I did eat I ate very little, then at about 13 I found that cutting myself gave me a sense of joy. From the outside it all sounds very silly and if you haven't ever done it you really cannot understand the feeling you get from seeing your wrists cut and the pain from cutting them.

I remember once finding a bit of long grass stuff that was quite sharp and I whipped it joyfully across my arms till they were covered in little two or three inch cuts, so many that people noticed and I had to be more careful but it was a great feeling at the time.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I spent the rest of my teenage years cutting and scratching myself in times of upset (which sadly there were a lot of).

At about 15 I fell 'in love' and had a steady boyfriend but towards the end of relationship when we grew apart and he started going out with other women behind my back I started hitting myself in the head. Don't ask why but I would just hit myself in the head, maybe hoping I would kill myself I don't really know!

I did this up until I found the miracle contraceptive pill that changed me, I became chilled and pretty much anger free until after I had my son.

I was diagnosed with post natal depression about four months after my son was born, after a traumatic birth and a very ill husband I had pretty much had enough and would think about how I would end it all (apparently the way in which I would do it is normally a man's way out, thanks I think) . However, I knew my son needed me and I decided to get help and was put on anti-depressants and saw a community support nurse every other week.

So why all the sudden am I thinking about this, well I went to see my mum today and she said she thinks she's depressed. This makes me so sad, so sad I am sat here with tears streaming down my face, I love her and know how it feels to be stuck in the despair of depression and I don't want her to feel this way.

My dad also suffers with depression (which I found out shortly after I had been put on antidepressants after having my son), yet he doesn't seem to have noticed she seems down and this makes me so flipping sad.

I had my husband to confide in and although he really didn't seem to understand at least I could cry at him and get all the crap filling my head out into the open.

Gosh I hate this illness, I mean I really hate it! The mind is such a complicated thing and I really hope my children don't suffer from it, my grandpa on my dads side was 'commited' but whether it is nature or nurture I have no idea.

All I can do is be there for my children and help them if they need me, sadly my parents although lovely and I'd do anything for them, they literally had no idea how to help me through depression. I once stood in the kitchen so angry at being bullied that I grabbed a knife and held it to my wrist in in a fit of anger. My dad said 'go on then do it' , this takes tough love to the extreme and I hope he can be more use to my mum and I to my children.

Thanks if you made it this far, I just needed somewhere to vent this.
